Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region to create waste management concept

The governors of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko agreed to create a joint-stock company (JSC) with equal participation of the city and the region. Its task will be to develop a unified waste management concept for the two regions.

As reported on the official website of the administration of St. Petersburg, the creation of the JSC is planned to be completed by the end of 2020. Combining the efforts of the city and the region will allow us to develop a single territorial scheme, prepare an up-to-date agreement between the city and the region in the field of waste management and jointly solve the problem of their processing.

To participate in the capital of the joint-stock company being created, the Leningrad region will provide several sites where modern waste processing plants will appear.
