On December 9, 2020, a quarterly meeting of the Public Environmental Council under the Governor of the Leningrad region was held.
The participants of the meeting supported the initiative to create a "Leningrad house of Ecologist" in Gatchina. On its basis, it is planned to organize educational work to improve the environmental literacy of the population, and a proposal was made to hold an annual holiday "Neva Day", which will help draw additional attention to the protection of both the watercourse itself and its catchment area. The authors of these proposals will prepare relevant projects and submit them to the relevant committees of the Leningrad region Administration.
The next meeting of the public environmental Council is scheduled for February 2021.
It should be noted that on December 2, 2020, the first Environmental Council under the Governor of St. Petersburg was held, where issues of development and implementation of environmental monitoring, as well as support for the Neva Day were discussed. The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov supported the organization of the Neva Day.
