Session of the Finnish University of XAMK

We invite you to the session held by the Finnish University of XAMK within the framework of the Russian-Finnish BBC1 project. We are looking for companies that are ready to share their experience about the Russian market and want to learn more about the Finnish and international market. The session will last two hours and will be held in Russian. They plan to hold a session on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 15 to 17 hours in Zoom.

Goal: to test a new cross-border concept for companies. This concept of mutual learning is intended for Finnish and Russian companies in the field of biotechnology and closed-loop economics. The Russian expert of Export maker Ltd will contact the Russian company and explain how to prepare for this meeting. Companies can represent different industries.

Advantages for participating companies:

  • Expert's lesson: How to find investors and take a risk. Financing on the international market (the expert of Export Expert LLC will speak in Russian);
  • Opinions and tips on how to succeed with Finnish clients / up-to-date information about the peculiarities of the Finnish market provided by Finnish companies and experts;
  • An opportunity for networking, when Russian companies and business experts in a separate group will discuss questions related to the Russian market, asked by representatives of a Finnish company.

Which companies are suitable:

  • Companies should have a certain interest in internationalizing their activities, finding partners or customers, or cooperation from Finland;
  • The business sector should have some connection with the circular economy or biotechnology;
  • The company is ready to participate in a 2-hour Zoom session, which will be held on October 7 at 15 o'clock and will last two hours;
  • The Russian expert of Export Maker Ltd will contact the companies in advance and ask what issues on export and internationalization to Finland are most important for them.

III Baltic Region Investment Forum BRIEF'21

On September 22, 2021, the St. Petersburg Cluster of Clean technologies for urban environment will take part in the III Baltic Region Investment Forum BRIEF’21 – an annual event of the Leningrad Region dedicated to the interaction of business and the authorities of the region on topical issues of localization and measures to support entrepreneurship, business cooperation. This year, the main topic of the forum will be the production of the future. At the plenary discussion with the participation of the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, business, government and experts will discuss the question "How not to be late the day after tomorrow?" - challenges and opportunities that the introduction of advanced production technologies gives to business.

The cluster within the framework of the business contacts Exchange will present cluster projects implemented in the Leningrad region: "Leningrad Region" ("Smart Leningrad Region") and "Eco-industrial park of clean technologies" (see the file).

The venue of the forum is the Hilton Saint Petersburg ExpoForum Hotel. BRIEF'21 is held online and offline.

Future Energy Solutions conference was held

The Future Energy Solutions conference was held on September 13-15, in parallel with the event "Reducing the carbon footprint from residential buildings and social infrastructure buildings, mobility and logistics, as well as the efficiency of municipal waste management" on September 15 in Lappeenranta.

Presentations were made by LUT University, Metropolis and the Finnish Institute of the Environment; Sweco presented a feasibility study of the Cata3Pult project on energy efficiency and advanced business models for residential buildings and social infrastructure buildings-case studies from the cities of Lappeenranta and St. Petersburg, KOSMOS LLC presented a report "Energy saving and the carbon footprint of buildings of different types and years of construction in St. Petersburg"; there were also reports on biogas plants and reports on the circular economy: Separate waste collection as a normative guide for effective waste management and transition to a closed-cycle economy, the practice of separate garbage removal from St. Petersburg, the Lappeenranta Climate Action Plan, the Year of the Green Leaf and the History of young Entrepreneurs; the BBC1 project presented a report on its activities: The business potential of bioeconomics in a cross-border context.

The event was held in a hybrid format. The participants, present in person, visited EKJH - waste management center and biogas plants in South Karelia.

We invite you to take part in the seminar – "round table"

The Association of Environmental Partnership (NP "AsEP") and the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SPb CCI) will organize a round table seminar on August 26, 2021 (14:00-17:00, 46-48 Tchaikovsky Street): "Implementation of the principles of circular economy in retail chains and enterprises. Waste management – business models, technologies, exchange of experience". The program of the event in Russian can be viewed here.

The event is held within the framework of the project "Business in biotechnology and circular economy" of the cross-border cooperation Program "South-Eastern Finland – Russia 2014-2020", which is supported by the Administration of St. Petersburg. Finnish participants will participate online with a remote connection to the seminar hall.

The seminar will be attended by the heads and specialists of the Committee for Nature Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety, the Nevsky Environmental Operator, the Center for Environmental Information for Enterprises AsEP (www.ecoprofi.info) and large retail chains.

It is planned to discuss a wide range of issues related to the treatment of MSW at retail enterprises, as well as exchange experience in implementing the mechanism of extended producer responsibility.

Food BioTech conference

On August 23-24, ITMO University will host a major international event dedicated to food biotechnology and circular economy – Food BioTech Conference 2021. Leading scientists, specialists in the field of biotechnology, nutrition, ecology and medicine, employees of research organizations, postgraduates and undergraduates, representatives of public organizations are invited.

Within the framework of the conference, there will be held a round table on the topic “Science-business collaboration in terms of biotechnology and circular economy South-East Finland – Russia projects”. Projects of the cross-border cooperation program «South-East Finland – Russia» will participate there. Three projects: "Business in Biotechnology and Circular Economy" (BBC1), "Finnish Russian Public Private Partnership catalyzing new green business" (Cata3Pult) and "Prevention and utilization of Invasive Alien Species" (PURE) will present their projects and the results of their activities.

The round table will be attended by representatives of the administration of the cross-border cooperation program «South-East Finland – Russia». They will tell about the new Program period 2021–2027.

A meeting of the Environmental council under the Governor of St. Petersburg was held

On July 9, a meeting of the Environmental council under the Governor of St. Petersburg was held. The issues of maintaining the ecological well-being of water bodies on the territory of St. Petersburg were considered and ways to improve their health, as well as suggestions for organizing the "Neva Day".
It was decided to approve the idea of the "Neva Day" and prepare a draft proposal for its organization for the next meeting. In addition, it was decided to create a working group under the Environmental council "Waste management in St. Petersburg".
